Xin Tu

I am Professor of Plasma Catalysis in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool. I received dual PhD degrees in 2007: PhD in Physics from the University of Rouen (CORIA CNRS UMR 6614, France) and PhD in Thermal Engineering from Zhejiang University (China).

My research mainly focuses on plasma-catalysis for environmental clean-up (e.g., oxidation of VOCs and PAHs) and for the synthesis of fuels and chemicals from a range of carbon or nitrogen sources (e.g., CO2 conversion, CH4 activation, nitrogen fixation, tar reforming and heavy oil cracking). Within PIONEER, I am mostly involved in the study of plasma-catalytic CO2 hydrogenation to higher value fuels and chemicals.
